Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing & Heating - Experienced Worker
This qualification allows learners to become competent to industry standards in plumbing and heating. Learners are required to demonstrate the ability to preform the necessary skills and the knowledge required to be assessed against the National Occupational Standards.

Course summary and requirements
It allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in plumbing and heating.
Before the NVQ commences, the City & Guilds experienced worker document must be completed.
Throughout the NVQ there will be independent e-learning required from the learner with end of unit test.
Assessments at the end of the course will be an: Portfolio evidence and On-line test.
No formal entry requirements needed must be aged 16 years or over and have knowledge of plumbing and heating.

Below are the requirements for the NVQ:
Plumbing and heating requires access to all these areas at work:
- Small Working Platforms (Pop up/platforms)
- Basic Frames (must be all 3): LCS, Plastic, Copper
- LCS pipework to radiators
- Cutting out floorboards
- Guttering
- Clock-rooms/full bathroom and boiler jig fitting
If they can’t access this at work, we can do simulations for individuals at an extra cost (see below).
However, the Level 2 Plumbing & Heating does require 10 exams and assignments. So we would offer 2 week block to complete this. If any operative does have previous qualifications, we can APL this accordingly to meet individual needs.
The assessor will also need to visit you on-site once.
*Cost/Off the job breakdown:
Initial exams and learning: 2 Week Initial Block at our centre (10 days, inclusive of assignments and exams)
NVQ: No down time, online portfolio, with one on-site visit. Operative to upload evidence to this via PDA.
Duration: Up to 1 year based on the individuals
- Full Cost per Operative: £2500 plus VAT pp
- Should individuals already have a tech cert: £1200 plus VAT pp
- Additional Costs: £200 per exam, £200 per onsite visit, £200 per simulation, pp
- Enrolment: Prior to enrolment – completion of Experienced worker form, Enrolment-pre start date, Data Capture Form completion, which would include ID, Previous certs. This is an admin task, and as employers you may have this already on file. Individual to complete Initial Assessments prior to start date.
- Numbers: Minimum 6 per cohort, maximum 10
Pre-requisites
This Vocational Qualification is aimed at people with access to sites and correct tools. They are able to undertake the work, and know, to some extent, the requirements to fulfil the criteria needs. These pathways would not be suitable for people without access to a range of areas required for this subject. If you are unsure if you do have the ability to obtain evidence, feel free to contact us.

It allows candidates to progress into employment or to the following City & Guilds qualifications:
- City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Plumbing and Heating (either gas option, oil option, solid fuel option, or environmental technologies) (6189)

There are two payment options for our courses:
- You can pay 50% upfront and 50% upon completion of the course.
- You can spread the cost of the course over 3 instalments.
Typical completion time is 4-6 months, and all learners are supported to complete within a 6-month timeframe, however this depends on how quickly you are able to meet the requirements of the NVQ. Our assessors can arrange calls, evidence gathering and assessments around your workload; the NVQ format is very flexible.

- you have 1-250 directly employed staff on the payroll
- any previous project paid for by the Skills and Training fund has been signed off as complete.
