Course summary and requirements
It allows learners to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in a number of specialist areas of plant operations to include:
- Cranes and specialist lifting plant
- Road/rail plant
- Attachments
- Fork-lift trucks
- Extracting plant
- Transporting loads plant
- Accessing plant
- Laying and distributing plant
- Compacting plant
- Processing plant
- Loading and securing plant
Upon completion, learners show that they have the required skills and knowledge and are competent in the specialist occupational area.
Assessments at the end of the course will be an: Portfolio evidence.
No formal entry requirements needed must be aged 16 years or over and have basic knowledge of joinery.
Pre-requisites
This Vocational Qualification is aimed at people with access to sites and correct tools. They are able to undertake the work, and know, to some extent, the requirements to fulfill the criteria needs. These pathways would not be suitable for people without access to a range of areas required for this subject. If you are unsure if you do have the ability to obtain evidence, feel free to contact us.

There are two payment options for our courses:
- You can pay 50% upfront and 50% upon completion of the course.
- You can spread the cost of the course over 3 instalments.
Typical completion time is 4-6 months, and all learners are supported to complete within a 6-month timeframe, however this depends on how quickly you are able to meet the requirements of the NVQ. Our assessors can arrange calls, evidence gathering and assessments around your workload; the NVQ format is very flexible.
- you are a CITB-registered employer
- you have 1-250 directly employed staff on the payroll
- any previous project paid for by the Skills and Training fund has been signed off as complete.
